kids are kings (and queens) Near shore (inside of 20 miles)
Report:
A morning trip from above. The bait was easy to get, a large pod of pogies at the sea bouy, and the kingfish bite was on. I had a boat load, with 4 adults and 2 good fishermen (one was a little lady) on board. After filling the bait well with one throw of the castnet I pulled up to a bait school about a mile inshore of a local wreck (6 miles offshore) and put the lines out. First went the downrigger and it was a fun kind of mahem from there. There were kings skyrocketing all arround the boat and in our baits, we never went more than 5 minutes without a bite and only had to move once, it got crowded so we moved another mile or so out to another bait pod. We ended with 9 kings in the boat, another few long distance releases and one cut up by 'cudas. The young man caught the two biggest (both arround 20 #s) and his sister had one in the mid teens. A GREAT day. Kids are the greatest asset. I'm supposed to fish the "King Buster" tourny this weekend, naturaly the weather looks to be a bit sporty. 'Till then, Capt. Guy
