AM. Party of two just wanting to catch a few fish. Baited on the beach with pogies (menhaden) South by the pier and left for PW straitaway. The bite was slow to get started but the kings were there. So were the 'cudas, we had a very hard time getting anything but lips and gills to the boat when near the main structure. I moved off the structure about a quarter mile and found some bait suspended and started to work that. Now we were getting whole kings to the boat. No big ones, up to 12 #s or so, but at least they were whole. We ended keeping 6 and releasing 2 kings as well as releasing 8 'cudas.
PM. A family affair, party of 4. The bait was still almost to the pier and we were PW bound again. The bite was a lot slower for the kings and 'cudas this afternoon. We fished PW for about an hour with only 3 'cudas and one shark. After that we moved North to the Standish area. There was bait all over the reef and so were the 'cudas. We caught 5 more and two kings (one whole and one with enough left to fillet). What a differance a couple of hours can make. 'Till next trip, Capt. Guy
