When I first talked Craig on last Tuesday he had just finished a trip with Tommy Coleman on the "Bodacious". His order for Tommy was to catch his first red fish. It was filled in spades with 4 nice reds. He asked Tommy who would be the best chance for a sailfish catch? Well, I caught Tommy and his son Ruddy their first sails so Tommy says "Guy". Not quite the prime time of year but we'll give it a heck of a shot. I rigged small ballyhoo on flurocarbon leader with 6/0 hooks and away we go. We stopped next to an art. reef and put baits out and were immediatly into the bonito's. Well it's practice. After a few of these and a cuda or two cutting us off I moved out away from the structure to a place that holds bait a little further offshore and we started the billfish thing. 99% boredom interupted (hopefully) by 1% mayhem. About 0955 he came up on the left flat and showed that he had a sail and a bill and ate the bait and swam away, I rerigged and made a turn to get back on the numbers and he was up again and in an eating mood. After three shots and finally a hookup the rest is history. Craig got his first sailfish and a deepwater swim (tradition says you will swim on your first billfish). Pretty fish and a tall order filled. 'Till next trip, Capt. Guy
