kids are kings (and queens) Near shore (inside of 20 miles)
Report:
Long day without a kingfish. We caught a lot of sharks (atlantic sharpnose and blacktips) that were all short of 3 feet and a few 'cudas. The kings were caught where we weren't, I tried from 100 ft of water to the 70's and the sharks were wide open everywhere. On the last stop in a desperate measure, I stopped on a small spot to the NE that I've caught fish on from time to time and marked what I thought were amberjack. What a surprise. A 26# genuine red snapper on a kingfish rod/pogie on the downrigger. The first one I've ever caught this way. It was a 20 minute battle and the young man that caught her had also caught a 'cuda pushing the 50# mark that was foulhooked about half way down the body only a couple of hours earlier (that took the better part of an hour). Tommorow WILL be better.
