Went back to basics (live baiting) today. It's really hard to do three in a row traditional with no mate doing all the rigging and running yourself. And, the fishing was better with live bait. We started on a spot of bait I found yesterday and didn't catch anything on but it looked promising, so we started there with pogies. First pass saw a 15+ king. The bite wasn't really hot but there were fish there and when they slowed to a stop we moved to the FD (shrimpboat) and got into the 'cudas. While they are fun to catch and the small ones are outstanding table fare we moved to the DL (Dorthy Louise). When we got .3 miles from the main mark I slowed and tossed out a rigger bait, it hit the water and was taken by a king right away. With that one in the boat I pitched another out and it, too, got eaten as soon as it hit the water. That's going from famen to feast and I like it. We caught and lost a few more there and it was time to go back. We ended with 6 whole kings, 3 'cudas and a bonita. All caught on lite tackle and live bait. Great fun and sport for a first trolling trip. 'Till next trip, Capt. Guy
