Well I'm back on the net again after a long slow winter. Hunting season is long over and the fish are starting to chew. I've been fishing the ICW a bit and the reds and flounder have been a regular catch with some trout now that that season is open again(it was closed Feb.). Yesterday we had a few short reds on a three hour trip on the falling tide as well as the standard small fish. Last Wed/Thurs I did a swordfish trip on the 48 Viking I'm now running. Swordfishing is night fishing and the weather man called for nice wind and seas (10-15 S) and he lied again (15-20+G SW). What the heck, we were already out there so let's fish. We had three runs and caught one (my first ever) that was 83.25 #s. On the way in we trolled and caught a nice blue marlin about 200 #s and two wahoo in the 30's. Heck of a trip. The ride home with the SW wind not letting up was also a heck of a trip with us takeing 3 of every 5 over the bridge on the big Viking. I really felt for the small outboards that were out there (there were a bunch in the 25-30 foot range) that had to ride that 3-5',very close, head sea the 50 miles home. Well we will see what the season brings this year with the big boat and my "MisStress" both fishing. Offshore bottom fishing is a little slow inside of the 21 area but picking up and the ICW is getting better every day with the water warming up. So, Let's Go Fishing!!
