Report:
Well I fished 16 days in April and the results were verying to say the least. The month started with water temps in the low 60's in the near shore and inshore waters and ended in the low 70's. During the first part of the month fishing was slow with a few nice reds on the warmer days in the river but the bite was almost non-existant on the near shore waters until you reached 100 feet of depth. If you wanted puppy (Atlantic sharpnose) sharks you were in luck. I did take one trip to the inshore spring off of Cresent Beach and get into the whiting on a morning trip that also got us a 32.5 pound black drum. The whiting bit well with over 50 in the boat and that big drum was the icing. With the water warming to low/mid 70's the bite inshore and near shore has turned on. The vermilion snapper and sea bass have been on the rise from 70 to 85 feet of water and the reds and keeper trout are keeping us busy in the river. I had a 24 inch trout on Saturday as well as flounder and reds. On the offshore scene we caught another Blue Marlin on 2nd of April and some big (to 45.5#) mahi (dolphin) on the Widow's Mite this month. Just a reminder, the Widow's Mite is a private boat I run occasionaly and (unfortunantly) not a charter vessel. If you want to fish the Stream I can arrange it but I don't have a big boat for charter at this time. Until next trip, Tight Lines Capt. Guy
