kids are kings (and queens) ICW (Intracoastal Waterway) Near shore (inside of 20 miles)
Report:
It's been a while since I updated, so here goes. Last Fall saw a real decrease in charters, I guess due to the fuel prices here and abroad. I know our prices at the dock forced the charter fleet in general to go up. I held off until April 1st then went up (see prices to the left). I also changed the 10 hour trips to special request only (with cost variable). The fishing this year sofar has been between good and outstanding. We have been catching a lot of Geniune Red Snapper, sea bass, and grouper on the offshore trips, the trolling has not fired up due to cool water temps though I expect it to warm up by May 10th or so for the kings and cobia to be within 20 miles. On a near shore (within 2 miles of the beach) we had a 175+ catch day of weakfish (yellowmouth trout) in 3 hours, on another day we had 75 large seabass (to 4 pounds) on a 4 hour trip as well as catching 20 plus short red snapper and a 30 inch warsaw grouper on the same trip. Most trips saw good catches but these were outstanding. During the coolest months (Jan-Feb) the slot reds were in abundance in the creeks, they have slowed somewhat in the last two weeks (not stopped, just slowed to a couple keepers on the low tide changes) but the trout and flounder have taken up the slack. I've had trout to 27 inches this spring with a lot of 18 to 20 inch fish and flounder to 6.5 pounds. As usual we are catching 3-5 shorts for each keeper. The black drum (2-5 Pounds) are starting to make there spring run also. As the Spring turns into Summer I'll start to carry the camera with me more often and can update the picture board. Also with the more trips run I'll update the report more often. Remember to keep your lines tight. Capt. Guy
